Hello there, thanks for visiting! I'm a gradute student in Sociology at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. I'd like to hear from other graduate students in sociology, cultural studies, philosophy and whoever else is interested in studying society and the culture(s) around us. My interests are primarily in social theory, social problems, media and culture. Currently, I am writing about youth violence as well as a piece on Freud, The Frankfurt School, and Modern Feminists.
Movies seem to tell us a lot about our own lives these days. Is it true that film and cinema were once predominantly the domain of fiction? Have these favourite past-times become closer and closer to the way in which we see our own lives? Is there a distinction between reality and fantasy? What do you think and why?
My interests:
I have been a tutorial assistant at both Wester and McMaster for Introductory Sociology. Eventually, I'd like to be a professor and get the opportunity to teach my own courses. What are your interests in academics? Feel free to send along any material you would like to share with members of my intellectual community.
